UKFast owner Lawrence Jones joins Manchester Camerata's Board
Article date: Wed, 19 May 2010 14:14:07 GMTLawrence Jones, founder of the Manchester-based web hosting firm UKFast, is the latest significant figure from the North West's business community to join the Board of Directors of Manchester Camerata, one of the UK's leading chamber orchestras.
Lawrence Jones already has a close association with the orchestra. Since 2009 UKFast's support has taken the form of developing and hosting Manchester Camerata's up-to-the-minute website (www.manchestercamerata.co.uk). Later this year, the organisation will be sponsoring the first concert of the new 2010/11 season, on 25 September at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
UKFast is responsible for hosting more than 350,000 domain names on the internet, with clients that include Barclays, UKTV and News International. Both the organisation and its owner have received a number of significant accolades in recent years. In 2007 Lawrence Jones became the Institute of Directors' Young Director of the Year for Manchester; in 2008 UKFast won the MEN Business of the Year Award. The organisation has also appeared in the Best Companies list for two years running - in 2009 and 2010.
Welcoming Lawrence Jones to the Board, Manchester Camerata Chairman, Geoffrey Shindler OBE, said:
"We are delighted to have secured the support of Lawrence Jones, whose flair for innovation and creativity in business is so widely recognised. Manchester Camerata is one of the most thriving cultural organisations operating in the city at the moment and has always benefited from the support of a Board that is strong and proactive. With people of the calibre of Lawrence Jones joining our numbers, the orchestra can look forward to an even more dynamic future."
Expressing his pleasure in joining Manchester Camerata, Lawrence Jones said:
"An orchestra of the Camerata's pedigree really does deserve a wider audience. With my experience in connecting people using the latest technologies I am confident that together with the chairman's vision and chief executive Bob Riley's passion, we will make an awesome team."
