Busy summer award season looms for UKFast MD Lawrence Jones
Article date: Tue, 03 Jun 2008 17:59:57 GMTLawrence Jones, the co-founder and managing director of leading UK hosting company UKFast, is preparing for a busy awards summer, having been named a winner in one and a regional finalist in another.
The UKFast boss has made it through to the Northern finals of Ernst&Young’s UK Entrepreneur of the Year 2008. The awards look for a leader who has “exemplified entrepreneurial skills” and who displays “entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, vision and people leadership” amongst other qualities.
Earlier this year Lawrence successfully passed rigorous scrutiny from the Ernst&Young award panel to make the Northern leg final and now he is preparing to see if he has been named a regional winner and national finalist when the result is announced on June 10 at the Hilton Hotel Manchester.
Meanwhile, the UKFast MD has also made the inaugural inductee list for business news publisher Crain’s Manchester’s 40 Under 40.
The Crain’s award recognises the outstanding business people in Manchester that have already made a dramatic impact before their 40th birthday. The shortlist represents a variety of Manchester-based companies, across a broad range of industries, ensuring that the cream of Manchester business leadership is present.
The inaugural class of ’08 will be individually profiled in Crain’s Manchester on June 16 and Lawrence and his fellow inductees will receive their award at a special dinner at The Midland Hotel on Thursday June 19.
As he looks forward to receiving one award and furthering his challenge for the other, Lawrence commented, “It is a great honour to be involved with both of these prestigious awards. However, I believe that this is as much a recognition of the brilliant work of my staff at UKFast as it is of me individually.”
